In 2010, the Ruhr metropolis is a cultural centre in Europe: 300 projects with 2,500 events are offered in the year of the Capital of Culture. The surrounding regions also present a diversified and exciting cultural programme throughout the year: the Art Cologne in Cologne, the Quadriennale in Düsseldorf, numerous high-class exhibitions in the museums of the cities along the Rhine and much more.
The GRAND TOUR 2010 invites to discovery of the cultural diversity on the rivers Ruhr and Rhine and to a cultural trip of a special kind. The GRAND TOUR 2010 box serves as a practical travel companion, allowing visitors to plan and realize one to three-day trips in and around the capital of culture. The handy metal box contains a voucher for an overnight stay at select hotels and vouchers for entry to cultural highlights. Travellers are free to choose whether to use their voucher for a visit to the Art Cologne, the newly opened Museum Folkwang, an exhibition at the Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle in Bonn or at the Museum Ludwig, whether to rent a bike to visit works of art along the river Emscher or to participate in a bus tour along the route of domestic culture.
